Pre-Primary (Baby, Middle & Top Class)
Play-based early learning that builds language, number sense, motor skills and confidence before Primary One — taught in small, teacher-rich classes.
Edna Pre and Primary School teaches 412 children from Baby Class to Primary 7. 168 of them are here only because a sponsor covers their fees, meals and books.

Edna began in 2011 when a group of Kampala teachers kept seeing bright children turned away from school. Not for lack of ability, but because their families couldn’t afford uniforms, meals or books.
Today, roughly four in ten pupils study on full or partial sponsorship. The rest pay reduced fees that cover only part of what a school day really costs. Teachers’ salaries, lunches and repairs are paid for by people who decided these children were worth it.
Each tier is tied to an actual cost at Edna, so you know exactly what your money does.

Every enrolled pupil eats, no exceptions. For many children it is the most reliable meal of their day.

Sciences, social studies, creative work and sport, in classes small enough for teachers to know every child.

Upper primary pupils stay on in study groups to prepare for their Primary Leaving Examinations.

The Ugandan national curriculum in literacy, numeracy and local language, alongside daily reading time and a hot lunch for every pupil.

Sciences, mathematics, social studies and Primary Leaving Examination preparation, plus mentorship, sport and a growing computer lab.
Parents, guardians, teachers and local leaders gather under the tent to hear how the school is doing: results, finances, and what the children still need. It is how Edna stays accountable to the families it serves.
Sponsors join that same circle. You get termly reports, letters and photos, and the community gets the resources to keep its children learning.

“My daughter used to walk two hours to a school with sixty children in one room. At Edna she has a desk, a teacher who knows her name, and lunch every day.”
“We sponsor two pupils from our office in Manchester. The termly updates and photos make it feel like we are part of their classroom, not just a donor list.”
“I started as a sponsored pupil in Baby Class. This year I sat my Primary Leaving Exams. Edna did not just teach me — it kept me in school.”
